        Wuhan launches overseas investment promotions

        Updated: 2022-12-23

Representatives from Caidian district, Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone, and the Wuhan investment promotion office joined the Hubei delegation to launch overseas investment promotion activities from Dec 15 to 22 in Germany and Sweden. This sends out the message that Wuhan is open to overseas investment and trade cooperation, and it is also conveying the city's sincerity and confidence in its businesses.

The Wuhan investment promotion team travelled to Frankfurt, Duisburg, and other European cities, to visit a group of Fortune 500 companies, as well as several hidden champion enterprises (referring to small and medium-sized enterprises with low social popularity but high share in the international market).  The team has signed investment project contracts with several of these companies.

The team also went to the China International Investment Promotion Agency (Germany), the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Sweden, and other such institutions to establish investment promotion networks.

On Dec 19 (Central European Time), the Hubei, China-Germany economic and trade cooperation promotion conference was held, the team introduced Wuhan's biomedicine, automobile, and auto spare parts industries and their business environments to more than 30 German companies and shared Wuhan's latest preferential policies.

Wuhan's determination to go global was lauded by many German investors, who also expressed their intentions to expand investments in the city.

A representative from a German biomedicine firm came all the way to the conference, and after hearing that Wuhan boasts 92 universities, and 1.47 million college students, he said that Wuhan must be a vibrant city that can offer superior markets and human resources.

From now until the first half of next year, Wuhan will continue to arrange such overseas investment promotion activities by visiting 100 developed cities, sister cities, and node cities involved in the Belt and Road Initiative.
