The Lotus Wuhan intelligent workshop project based in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) concluded on July 15. A celebration was held to mark the occasion.
Li Shufu, president of Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co, gave a speech at the event, highlighting the project as a successful example of Geely's strategic cooperation with the Hubei government. He said he believed that the project will break new ground for brand development.
Lotus is a high-end luxury car brand that enjoys an international reputation for leading the global auto industry for more than 70 years. "Wuhan in Hubei province has unique geography and a strong auto-making foundation, and a world-class 1-trillion-yuan ($147.8 billion) automobile industrial cluster is being shaped here. It is precisely Wuhan"s business-friendly environment and powerful market demand that have attracted the project. Wuhan is now the second hometown of both Geely and Lotus," said Li.
Lotus's first lifestyle vehicle, also its first SUV production model, was released at the celebration.
