The supporting infrastructure project around Longling Mountain in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) was completed on March 16, marking the official operation of all sections of Chegu Avenue, which will reduce driving time between Junshan New City and Wuhan's core urban areas by 12 minutes.
The avenue is 10 kilometers long and runs between Dongfeng Avenue and Longling Avenue.
A resident surnamed Zhou has begun taking the new road on his commute instead of Jiangcheng Avenue and said that the new route saves him nearly 15 minutes and that it is now more convenient for people in urban areas to travel scenic spots in the new city.
Chegu Avenue also facilitates the flow of industries, technology and talent into the development zone and connects three industrial development belts – the advanced manufacturing development belt on Dongfeng Road, the industry-city integrated development belt on the left bank of the Yangtze River, and the ecological belt along the Tongshun River.
In addition, by the end of December this year, the rehabilitation of the 10.3-km-long Xingcheng Avenue will be completed, shortening travel time between Zhuankou area and Shamao area to about 20 minutes and contributing to the integration of the development zone with Hannan district.
