On the evening of Jan 6, Houguan Lake in Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) was lined with tens of thousands of LED lights, creating a stunning night scene.
A total of 24.5 kilometers of coastal area along Houguan Lake, South Taizi Lake, and Wanjia Lake feature LED lights.

The zone is rich in water resources. Since March 2018, the government has invested 13.8 billion yuan ($2.15 billion) to manage major lakes and rivers in the administered area and build a healthier water ecosystem. The quality of 26 major bodies of water has been significantly improved after four years of strenuous work.
