Integrated transportation project begins construction in WHDZ

The Wuhan Jingkai-Hannan integrated transportation project, with a total investment of some 12.5 billion yuan ($1.87 billion), has started construction in Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) in Wuhan, Central China's Hubei province, according to local media reports.

The integrated transportation project is set to be implemented in two phases. In the first phase, a two-way four-lane elevated road will be built to connect up the Dongfeng Avenue elevated road.

The second phase will be constructed from north to south, leading directly to Hannan Avenue.

At present, there are three fast lanes from Zhuankou to Shamao: Hanhong Expressway, Tongshunhe Avenue, and Junsha Avenue.

However, it takes about 40 minutes to take either the expressway or the national highway, which has gradually become less able to handle modern, large-capacity, fast-paced traffic demand.

After the first phase of the project is completed and opened to traffic, the driving time will be reduced by 10 minutes. After the second phase of the project is completed, the time it takes to drive from the Zhuankou core area to Hannan Shamao will be cut in half, forming a 20-minute circle.

After the integrated transportation project is completed, there will be four fast lanes connecting Zhuankou to Shamao, speeding up the development of a world-class automobile and parts industry cluster in WHDZ.
