Founded in May 1992, Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen Automobile Co is a car manufacturing joint venture funded by Dongfeng Motor Co and France-based Groupe PSA with a registered capital of 7 billion yuan ($985 million).
The company has two brands -- Dongfeng Peugeot and Dongfeng Citroen -- which reached a peak in sales of 710,000 cars in 2015.
Headquartered in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone -- in Wuhan city in China's Central Hubei province -- the company’s production and sales have achieved success.
In 2003, annual production and sales exceeded 100,000 vehicles. In 2005, output and sales topped 140,000 vehicles while in 2006, the production and sales went above 200,000 vehicles.
The company’s second Wuhan plant, third Wuhan plant and the successful start of operations of the Chengdu plant ushered in a high-speed growth period. From 2009 to 2015, the company rose to new heights and achieved sales of 710,000 vehicles in 2015.
