        Metro

        Updated: 2020-03-11

The first phase of the Subway Line 3 Metro project in the city of Wuhan in China's Central Hubei province was opened on December 28, 2015.

The line as planned is completely underground and 30 kilometers long, with 24 stations, a car depot in Sanjintan station near the end of the terminal and a parking lot at Shengguandu station.

According to the urban rail transit plan, Line 3 -- construction of which was started in 2012 -- was scheduled to be opened to traffic in 2015.

Five stations -- namely Hanyang Bus Terminal, Sanjiaohu, Wuhan Sports Center, Dongfeng Co and Zhuanyang Avenue station -- are located in the Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone.

The first phase of Line 6 was opened to traffic on Dec 28, 2016.

The first phase of the Line 6 project has 27 stations and a parking lot and is about 39.95 kilometers long.

Plans are for a total of six metro lines to run through the WHDZ -- namely Lines 3, 6, 10, 16, 17 and 26.

Officials said the first phase of Line 3 and 6 have been completed. They said the second phase of Line 3 and the first phase of Line 16 is now in progress.

The third phase of Line 6, Line 10 and the extension routes for Line 16, as well as Line 17 and Line 26, are the planned routes and construction work that will be carried out in the future.
