The finals of the 3rd Dongfeng Dream Car and China Youth Car Innovation Design Contest took place at the Dongfen Motor Co Technical Center in the Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) on Aug 28.
The contest was launched on March 1 and has received 152 works from 44 universities and colleges.
A total of 10 works qualified for the finals after strict evaluation, and the team from Hunan University won first place.
The contest was launched by Dongfeng Motor, the China Foundation for Youth Entrepreneurship and Employment, and the Dongfeng Benevolence Foundation in 2014, and has since become an influential event in the automobile industry.
More than 300 teams from domestic and foreign universities, including Tsinghua University, the China Academy of Art, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Hongik University, and IED (Istituto Europeo di Design), have taken part in the contest.
A number of outstanding car designers have been discovered through the competition. They are expected to become a new force at domestic car companies and R&D institutes, said Zheng Sulin, chief engineer of the Dongfeng technical center.
