        Dongfeng Renault Automobile Company

        Dongfeng Renault Automobile Company (DRAC) is located in Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone,China's Hubei province. 

        On May 22, 2013, the project of constructing Dongfeng Renault was approved by the Environmental Protection Department of China. 

        The project is to merge Sanjiang Renault into Dongfeng Renault by car manufacturers Dongfeng Motor Group and Renault, and move the company from Xiaogan to Wuhan, China's Hubei province. 

        On May 31, 2013, the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC) approved the transfer of State-owned stakes of Sanjiang Renault Automotive Company. And in June 2013, the Sanjiang Renault Automotive Company was renamed and registered as Dongfeng Renault Automobile Company, signifying that the Dongfeng Renault joint venture was officially approved. 

        On November 15, 2013, the Dongfeng Renault project was approved by the National Development and Reform Commission and on December 16, 2013, Renault signed on to the creation of an equally owned joint venture after gaining final approval from the Chinese government. 

        DRAC covers an area of about 5,000 mu (333 hectares). It has four workshops and some engine production lines, a research and development center, as well as some public auxiliary environmental projects. The investment of the first-stage project is 7.76 billion yuan ($1.13 billion), and it has an estimated output of up to 150,000 vehicles and 150,000 engines per year.

        The Dongfeng Renault plant started production in 2016.
